Code of Conduct
On HA-WI Kunststoffe GmbH & Co. KG’s compliance with minimum standards in the areas of labor, social affairs, safety and the environment.
1. introduction
For HA-WI Kunststoffe GmbH & Co KG, hereinafter referred to as HAWI for short, long-term cooperation, mutual obligations, sustainability and social responsibility are important guiding principles, especially in today’s world. These deserve special attention both in procurement and in the supply of products and services. The following Code of Conduct assures our business partners that HAWI acts in accordance with internal and external guidelines, in particular internationally recognized standards on human rights, working conditions, the environment and integrity. This code is based on the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the fundamental conventions and international labor standards of the ILO (International Labor Organization) and the principles of the United Nations Global Compact.
2. obligations of the company HAWI
Compliance with the law
HAWI undertakes to comply with all regional, national and international laws, regulatory and licensing requirements. This also includes all provisions for the prevention of money laundering and HAWI’s commitment not to knowingly participate in any money laundering activities. Protection of human rights HAWI undertakes not to permit forced labor, to respect the human rights of its employees and to ensure that no physical or psychological violence is used or that work is forced in any other way (e.g. by inducing or exploiting a situation of economic duress). HAWI shall also ensure that no employee is discriminated against by superiors or colleagues with regard to nationality, religion, age, ethnic origin, gender or sexual orientation. HAWI undertakes not to permit child labor within the meaning of the relevant national and international provisions, in particular the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. HAWI shall ensure that the health and other physical or psychological protection interests of minors are safeguarded and that they are not used for work that is associated with particular risks, even within the scope of permissible employment of persons under the age of 18. Employees have the right to organize themselves into trade unions or to join an association of their choice, without restrictions or consequences, provided that these associations are permitted by law. If the employment of a person requires special official approvals (e.g. work permit), HAWI shall ensure compliance with these requirements.
Health and safety in the workplace
HAWI ensures that its employees work in a safe and healthy environment in which protection against fire, accidents and hazardous substances is provided as a minimum. This also includes the appropriate design and maintenance of production facilities, workplaces and production equipment to ensure appropriate levels of noise, light and air purity. In addition to the self-evident access to clean drinking water and proper sanitary facilities for employees, appropriate precautions have also been taken for emergency situations. This includes appropriate safety equipment, a building design that complies with safety regulations and regular training for employees on how to behave in emergency situations.
Remuneration and further training
HAWI undertakes to pay its employees appropriate remuneration and, where applicable, to comply with prescribed minimum wages. Overtime is compensated at least in accordance with the statutory provisions. Wages are paid regularly and in legal tender. Deductions from wages are transparent and are not abused as a disciplinary measure. HAWI ensures that its employees receive appropriate professional training and development.
Environmental protection
HAWI undertakes to comply with all environmental protection regulations and, as far as possible, to go beyond the minimum legal requirements to minimize waste and emissions in order to keep the impact on soil, air and water as low as possible. This includes in particular the avoidance or at least minimization of waste, chemicals or other hazardous substances and, if their use is unavoidable, the proper handling and disposal of these substances. HAWI already takes into account and implements the environmental protection objectives described above as far as possible when designing production facilities, production equipment, developing products, selecting raw materials and manufacturing processes and taking into account the current state of the art.
High integrity
A high level of integrity is an integral part of HAWI’s corporate philosophy. In this sense, HAWI undertakes to limit the collection of personal data to what is necessary and legally permissible for the handling of business processes and to treat personal data strictly confidentially, to comply with international intellectual property rights, to refrain from bribery or other unfair methods of influencing the public, officials, the judiciary and/or representatives of other business partners, the judiciary and/or representatives of other business partners, to refrain from providing any employee of business partners with benefits in any way, such as free products or services, in order to positively influence business with business partners, to refrain from activities that negatively influence free competition, including cartels and price agreements.
3. application and monitoring
To ensure effective implementation of this Code of Conduct, it is communicated to all HAWI employees and made accessible via notice boards and the intranet. In addition, HAWI undertakes to communicate this Code to all business partners, in particular to its own suppliers, and to encourage them to comply with this Code or comparable behavioral guidelines. HAWI will enable its business partners to verify compliance with this Code on site or using other applicable methods.
